the "bracket" isnt a bracket, its a small, plastic enclosure... actually has a port too, i'm guessing they actually took their time and designed the proper size enclosure for the speaker. The enclosure cannot be trimmed to make a 6 1/2 fit... trust me... they made it so a 5 1/4 wont even fit. Go to that honda parts site I mentioned before... do a 93 LX (not EX, as it shows the parts specific to the model) sedan, then go to "radio-antenna speaker" you'll see the speaker pods listed as #1... only a couple bucks a piece... then you'll be able to mount 6 1/2's like they were meant to be there!

The bass output from Alpines will be 10 times that of the stock speakers... what kind of shyt do they smoke over there?!?! The stock speakers are thin, untreated paper cones with fabric surrounds and a tiny little magnet, nothing that can produce very much bass at all... the Alpines will have a poly cone (I think) with a durable rubber surround... a much more powerfull magnet... and is actually designed for quality sound reproduction... As much as I love Boston, I would say the Alpines may have a little more bass than Boston.

I still say go with the Alpine's... seeing you can get them for that price, i'm sure you'll be more than happy with them. You'll also get a little extra bass output, and be able to play them louder with less distortion if you add a 4 channel amp... even something running 25 watts RMS x4 will make a big improvement over deck power.
