quick rundown from another amatuer...

iso - the lower the number, the higher the quality of picture, but less sensitive to light - ie bad in dark situations. The higher the number the lower the quality of pic (grainy) but more sensitive to light... for best results dont go over 400iso-600iso.

shutter speed - is how fast the shutter opens and closes ... 1/60 -1/80 is threshold for not using a tripod unless you are super steady... the smaller the fraction the faster the speed (ie the bigger the number on the bottom, the faster the speed).... Bulb means you can keep the shutter open indefinetly... slow shutter speed capture more light, but will also capture more motion and jitter.

aperature "f-number" .. this is how big the hole the shutter covers will be... the lower the number the bigger the hole .. f3.5 is low, f22 is high. f16 is the average for best all around use... the lower the number, the more light, but LESS is in focus in your picture. the higher the number, the less light, but more is in focus..... low F-numbers are used for those pics where the subject is in focus but the background is blurry.... high f number is more for landscape pictures.....

ISO 100, a shutter speed of 1/200 and aperature f16 is best in well lit not fast moving things... i think.

thats as much as i know, i know more people know more than i know.
