The reason I brought up the dyno is that if a shop doesn't have a dyno it tends to fall into one of two categories:
1. It's just getting started out so they can't afford a dyno yet, or they just want to be a source of quality wrenching and not a full-fledged tuner. But they'll refer you to a place to have your tuning done and they won't feed you B.S. flywheel hp numbers.
2. It's purely a money-making operation and they want to play as many kids as possible for thousands of dollars worth of stuff that doesn't quite work like they claim.
Just from how you're describing the place it sounds like it fits into the second group.
