Really? I had a pari of ID6's in the door of my old CRX. If you really want to get them there I think that would fit. Did you try taking the door panel off and then mounting them? I had to make a custom speaker mounting ring out of MDF to get them in there. But hey they fit and sounded great, some Dnyamat would have helped a little bit.
This is a 00 Si, if you are familiar with this car, you know how small the speaker openings are.....
Without trimming metal on the door panel (and thereby weakening the plastic door panel - where the driver mounts), it's not possible to get these drivers in the door. The magnet is larger then the physical opening in the door.
This type of mounting gives no MDF option. The basket barely clears, but the magnet is just too large, seeing as that driver has the same motor as an IDQ8 if I'm not mistaken. The same is true for a ID CX62 mid.
I'm going with kicks anyway, but a while back, I wanted CXS52's in kicks and CX62's in the doors for dedicated midbasses...now I'm working on the horn setup below...
Could I have gotten them in the door with extensive modification, YES, but I was and am still aiming for an installation that allows me to return to near stock conditions......Also, with the amount of work necessary to do them correctly, I would have just build new panels for 8"s and gotten serious about it...
