I'm not saying that FPS online play is pointless, it serves as entertainment just like how an action-adventure game would. But at least with the action-adventure game, you have a better chance of doing (and seeing) stuff you've never done before in a game.
lets see action adventure ... you travel a map working to upgrade your characters abilities and inventory while completing a quest

FPS such as MW2 you navigate maps in an attempt to upgrade your characters weapons and abilities

both require killing enemies to reach this goal

there's more similarities between something like MW2 and FFXIII than one may want to admit but they both follow a basic priniciple of gaming
