I like it, and I have it overclocked to 1.0Ghz so I'm not worried about keeping up with the joneses as far as processor speed. So far I am pretty impressed...The phone is kinda shitty in all honesty, but I really like the touch screen and the droid interface. The physical keyboard blows cock and the phone feels cheap as fuck *Motorola at it's finest*. I snagged it cause it was free and I wanted to fuck with it. If you really want a new android 2.*.* device, wait until HTC launches something as the build quality on their phones far exceeds Motorola's craptastic hardware.
I didn't want to come off as a hater since I have an iphone, but I played around with my co-worker's droid and I was thoroughly unimpressed with those things you mentioned. The build was crappy as hell, keyboard blew, and overall just felt clunky and poorly made. And is it me or is the LED screen inset with an extra glass screen over it? Like its more deeply set under the screen or something. Compared to the iphone which has its display right at the surface of the glass. Maybe it was just me, who knows.
