THey could also be so low because a month after the droid came out the newer faster chips came out so there might be something Verizon is about to launch and need to make room for it.

no no no...people were pissed that the snapdragon chip wasn't offered in the Droid so some people are holding out for an Android phone on Verizon with the snapdragon. The google phone has the snapdragon in it. I doubt they will put the snapdragon in the Droid at all.

i was thinking about doing the annual upgrade option to get a droid, but i'm just gonna wait until september for my ne2. i'm sure there will be something better out by then anyway.

My girl just upgraded her NE2 and did a BOGO on the Droid so I am rocking one now for free 
I like it, and I have it overclocked to 1.0Ghz so I'm not worried about keeping up with the joneses as far as processor speed. So far I am pretty impressed...The phone is kinda shitty in all honesty, but I really like the touch screen and the droid interface. The physical keyboard blows cock and the phone feels cheap as fuck *Motorola at it's finest*. I snagged it cause it was free and I wanted to fuck with it. If you really want a new android 2.*.* device, wait until HTC launches something as the build quality on their phones far exceeds Motorola's craptastic hardware.
