They aren't commercial whaling, they are doing research. They are researching the deliciousness of whales.
Actually if they do some research they will find that the laws against whaling are arbitrary laws by an organization which has no real legal jurisdiction.
So regardless of what these morons want to think what the Japanese are doing is not illegal at all by any law.
