Well the problem I heard w/ pre-installed is the wire connections fail after a few runs. I only started wearing a helmet this year and I gotta say I really cant tell any difference. The other thing is depending on where you are going to ride they get pretty warm. Luckily it's freezing here so it's nice I'm concerned about spring riding might have to get one w/ more vents.
