Long story short: The denial-of-service attack is part of a consumer revolt against Internet Brands' new pricing for VBulletin 4.0 (the software which runs all the IB-owned sites plus thousands of others worldwide).

A couple of paid-up customers complained about the new pricing terms and were banned from the VBulletin support forums. Thus, IB left those customers without any support for the product they purchased.
