Was just checking out a few models. The one that stood out with me was the Ruger 357. It can take .38 or .357 MAG. It could also take some kind of mini shot cartridge as well... never saw that. He said those cartridges were good for snakes.
He said that a .38 would be good for home defense and a .357 MAG would be better suited for hiking. He said that a .357MAG would easily take out a bobcat or coyote and would probably take a couple to deter a bear, and if fully unloaded would probably take down a large bear.
I liked it. It felt nice and was smooth. A big advantage was it was a lot less parts and easier to clean than a Glock G22 or G23 (which I did get a chance to hold and dry fire). Though they are quite nice, I need to consider my wife and her want of simple. And even as simple as the Glock was to other Semi-Auto... the Ruger 357 Revolver was even more simple.
I'm not decided yet, but it was really good to get out there and hold them.
