B16 is a perfectly good motor, but you might get bored with it after a while (I did
h: ). If you can afford it, I'd try and get a b18c as a starting point. That way you'll have a little more power to keep you satisfied for the time being, and more potential when you want to start modding it down the road.
I prefer to buy one rather to rent it because there isn't one in my area that does that. I want to own one so it can help me with alots of stuff. UHmm, you saying that the b16 is not a fast performance engine? I will check for price and see. Is the b18c expensive than b 16? I don't know as yet.
