You can usually rent an engine hoist for pretty cheap (maybe $30 for a weekend).

B16 is a perfectly good motor, but you might get bored with it after a while (I did h: ). If you can afford it, I'd try and get a b18c as a starting point. That way you'll have a little more power to keep you satisfied for the time being, and more potential when you want to start modding it down the road.
