he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. the soonest he could get treated was in 6 months. the doctor urged him to find a way to pay for it himself so that he could get treated because he wouldn't last the six months, and he did.

socialism works in largely homogeneous societies where almost everyone is paying into the system. the USA is exactly the opposite of this.
i think it works pretty well here. My dad had a heart attack and he still survived. Then was diagnosed with kidney cancer he survived. All the treaments were free and so is the follow up checks. I dont know of anyone that had to suffer because of the wait period.
I'm a strong believer in universal health care. I also think it still a something to be proud of in Canada. it's not perfect but no system is.
