So my Acura was nailed in a hail storm last week Monday -- essentially every body panel was damaged. Took it down to State Farm's "Hail Catastrophe Claims Center" today and got a quote.

Car is a 2005 Acura RSX Type S with ~40,700 miles. I've added an Injen CAI and Mugen SS coilovers, but no other mods and I haven't driven it hard. It is in perfect mechanical shape and the body was in very good condition prior to the hail damage. Edmunds lists the non-hail-damaged value at $14,738, KBB at $15,735. Looks like they go for about this range on the local Craigslist.

The quote from the insurance came in at $9,269 dollars in damage. I have a $500 deductible, so they cut me a check right there for $8,769. KBB lists "rough" condition as worth $10,209 and Edmunds lists "fair" condition as $13,835. Any thoughts on how much I could actually sell the Acura for in its current hail-damaged state? It really is in great shape aside from looking like someone took a ball-peen hammer to it. The hail damage is not noticeable from more than 10+ feet away, but there is a lot of it.

I'm now debating on whether I should:
1) Repair the car and keep driving it
2) Take the money, don't repair the car, and drive it around with hail damage
3) Take the money, don't repair the car, sell it, sell my 4Runner (worth about $2500-$3000) and buy a new Nissan Xterra Off-Road.

I've been looking at the Xterras for a while. Prior to the hailstorm, I'd been planning on driving my Acura and 4Runner for about 2 more years, and then selling them both and buying an Xterra and a used Porsche Cayman. I'd still need to wait a couple years on the Cayman, but by selling both my cars and adding in the insurance check I'd be most of the way to a brand new Xterra. I'm not really interested in any other vehicles (except maybe a used version of the Xterra), as I've got a pretty good idea of what I want.
