I'm more than willing to agree with someone who is doing something right, ask Nightshade, but I haven't seen anything I can agree with yet. I will give credit where credit is due, if you can offer something up I'm more than willing to agree.
I'm not going to defend the republicans because I don't agree with them much more than I do the democrats. I'm simply stating what I've observed. Each party has it's vices and virtues. But when it comes to acknowledging something positive on the other side of the spectrum, the democrats are losers. The only time I've ever seen a democrat at least say someting positive about a republican decision was Joe Liberman about Iraq. He stood up to say that the reduction of violence in Iraq in 2008 was commendable. Joe's very moderate so I'm not sure that even counts. That's what I'm talking about, little things like that. Just today I read in the paper about the positive feedback from the republicans when Obama met with them yesterday regarding the stimulus package. They civilly said they don't agree with everything in the package but it was great that Obama would meet with them to discuss it so they could voice their concerns. Would you hear that from the dems if Bush met with them? Hell no. There'd be nothing but resentment and criticism about any of his ideas. Another example is when they pointed out that there haven't been any terrorist attacks on US soil since 911, or when the Iraquies voted a few years ago. Positive snippits like that never get any praise from the dems. The press covers these issues but the Dems never said as much as "Well, yes, it's a good thing that we haven't had any terrorist attacks in the last 7 years".
I'm really optimistic about Obama though. He seems less biased than most, and is quick to give credit. Plus, so far he's shown a willingness to try to work with both sides of the spectrum. He's likely to accomplish a lot more that way. The democrats wouldn't even think of working with Bush when he was in office. Hopefully the rest of the democratic party follows his lead. If so, I might just be a registered democrat by the end of his term. The rest of the big names and influencial dems like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, Dick Durbin, Ed Kennedy, etc. are a bunch of sniviling, borderline immature asshats IMO. Thank God none of them got in.
