He doesnt have to answer your questions as to why he pulled you over. he doesnt need to give you a reason. For all you know he saw you come close to a yellow or white line, thats all he has to say to have justifiable reason to stop you and he doesnt have to tell you that. most likely he was just looking for drunks and he didnt smell or sense alcohol so he let you go.
the fact you immediately started questioning him and then didn't answer a question of his will give him more than enough support to fight any complaint you file against him.
you got no ticket, no warning, no nothing just a minor 5 minute inconvience. why would you even try to make something out of this?
Actually you are partially right, they don't have to give you a reason unless they ae writing a ticket...but...if they are just randomly pulling cars over or frequent target a type of vehicle it can open up to other issues of abuse of power and inhibiting the right to travel and safety.
