But, yeah, that's actually a good idea. 88-91 Civic/CRX Si is lighter and smaller, and likely cheaper. It'll be harder to find than an EG, however.

Yeah, I think you're right. When you think about it, it adds up pretty quickly.
Gettheledout, if the goal is just to get involved in racing/motorsport, autocross is the cheapest way to do it. Class requirements reward getting a decent stocker and doing only minimal modifications. If you and your dad are looking for some wrench time together, don't worry, there will be plenty of minor stuff and maintenance with any old autocross junker. That's my $.02 :shrug:
