If you can get a letter from a friendly optomotrist or deermatologist to say that you have some sort of eye or skin problem that is alleviated by tinted windows, you can get by with a medical necessity defense. My wife had a melanoma taken off her leg, consequently I won't be having to strip any tint off my eindows. I have not had to defend it yet in California, but a judge is gong to be very leery of telling someone with a letter from a doctor to go against what the letter says.
