You have lymph nodes in your armpit (as well as groin, neck, abdomen, etc) that handle infections for your body. They're like mini-tonsils scattered all around your body. If they encounter a virus or other infection, they will attempt to absorb it, and thus they get swollen like your tonsils when you get sick.
Swollen lymph nodes, if that is the cause, could be caused by any infection in your body. If he gave you antibiotics, and it didn't help, you could have a viral infection of some sort.
Of course I'm not a doctor, and I'm armchairing this without even seeing it or wanting to see it. It's just an idea :dunno:
