While it's possible to jury-rig the VTEC wiring, don't do it.
There are safeguards built into the ECU which — if ignored — can lead to serious damage.
** Until you fix this properly and give the P72 an input for oil pressure at the VTEC solenoid, you will continue to be in limp mode. **
If you have to skimp on something, wait on the IAT code to get the VTEC wiring done right. Take the bus if you have to save the money.
