Yes, no need to start the engine, you won't be able to with that connector disconnected anyway. just put the voltmeter leads on the yellow/blk and blk wire and turn the ignition key to run(not start) a few times and measure the voltage, should be at near battery voltage. You have to remove the rear seat to get access the the connector. After you remove the rear seat, you'll see a big round access plate with a connector in the middle of it. Thats the one you'll be testing. It has four wires, 2 for the fuel level sender and 2 for the fuel pump. Make sure you're not testing the wrong wires cause the sender give you some wierd voltages depending on how much gas is in the tank.
