All you have to have is a phone that's not a cordless. My old rotary finally died and we have a pushbutton in the basement for when the power is out.
When I had my washing machine delivered the guys doing the set up had to call their boss, couldn't get a line out on their cell phones, so I told them that they could use the rotary phone...They both looked at it and didn't know how it worked...
