Default Same stereo & speakers in new car don't sound the same

I recently totaled my 96 Honda Accord LX... so I bought a 98 Honda Accord EX as a replacement. I took my aftermarket stereo (Kenwood) and speakers (also kenwood) from the old Accord to the newer one.

Strange thing, though - the setup in my 98 Accord now has MUCH weaker bass than before, even though it's the same speakers and head unit I had in my old Accord. Any thoughts?

Is there maybe a bass blocker for the stock tweeters in the 98 EX causing this? My 96 LX did not have tweeters, and I did not disconnect them in my new setup. Thanks for any advice you can throw my way!
