I'm a member of the National Motorists Association and I donate to SEMA's lobbyists as well. The NMA has been fighting these video traffic cameras for a while. Were it not for their efforts, we'd already have these cameras in downtown LA. h:

The bigger problem right now — at least in my opinion — is the latest bullshit move from Rep. Sheila Kuehl.

In short, she's trying to get the state definition of a speed trap changed so that the CHP can begin to use mobile speed cameras similar to the ones used by the Arizona Highway Patrol.

If SB 1325 passes, we will have no recourse and speed cameras can be deployed wherever the state sees fit.
