I just encountered the same EXACT problem. I just went outside to take a look, turns out that when I tapped into my front corner for my aftermarket side-marker, the cold weather caused the electrical tape to harden and eventually fall off, the exposed wiring was being grounded to the chassis... hope this definitely solves your similar issue!
