I didn't see that kind of wear on your thrust bearing. I saw squished mains. I'm stickin' to the soft bearing + 20 PSI beating theory. Anything laterally affecting your crank would not have squished the mains like that. It would have eaten through the thrust bearing first.

I've fragged 3 transmissions' thrust bearings, blown 1st and 2nd apart, shatterred my shift forks, and fired a chunk of something out of the tranny case... and all the while running an ACT2600 extreme clutch. I have NO crankshaft endplay. But I do have hardened bearings that are designed for a turbo car.
i understand what your saying but you also have to remember that there are many differences between how the two transmissions are designed. The only way my thrust bearings would have got chewed is if the main shaft in the trans had the avalibility to show end play durring the turbulance. There are to many parts in that thing to restrict end play in this trans, including the case plates & a ring clip to hold it back, let alone the fact that one of the gears that meets our final drive are riding on a washer thats already touching the case. It would be very hard for our manshaft to have any end play (in & out) to effect the thrust bearings on my motor. But the verticle wobble of the mainshaft is definatly possible through the off-set of the two shafts.

just some food for thought.

*edit: on a side note. I tore down my extra trans to change the input shaft bearing in it coz it's gonna be put to use while i'm fixing the one thats in the car. I'm thinkin i'm gonna toss my extra LSD in there as well & put it back together. I found the input shaft bearing in a different trans that had a cracked case. Cross referanced the part numbers and they came back the same so i didn't have to buy parts yet!
