On the flip side, it comfortably fit 5 people with weekend gear for a ~5 hr drive. It wasn't geared too well for the highway... i remember being @ almost 4k RPM @ 70... my accord is more like 2900 @ 70. Small gas tank, too. It got similar milage to my Accord on the highway (right around 33).
It's perfect for a city commuter. Parallel parking is a breeeeeeeeeze. Real versatile too. I'd rock one to cruise around the city. I'd probably rather get a used mini cooper S before the fit though.
To be honest the manuals get better mileage than the automatics even being at 4k RPM in 5th (I think the speed he was at was 80) . I'm at 3k when in 5th and 70mph but they still get better mileage than the manuals on the highway. The Fit basically teaches you to drive slower or get to cruising speeds later, cause you have a slow vehicle, but it's versatility is astronomical. I moved out of my college apt in one trip in that car, bicycle, chair, desk (disassembled) computer, all my clothes, television and snowboard. I get around 34 mpg driving to LA back daily (80 mile round trip traffic infested). In addition the fact that is has side-impact and bags in the seats was awesome too for its price.
