I'd use a tube just to cut down on the mess. Clear tube is pretty cheap, you could grab a couple different sizes.

Seems like it's about 1/8" inside diameter, but that's from vague memory. After using it a few times the brake fluid makes the tube get hard & brittle, so it doesn't last long anyway.
