the glass is not just glued on, there are mounting brackets that are attached to the glass. They prob. got old and broken, this in combination with the hardened and old sealant was the cause. It is the first I have heard, but mine in my EG coupe blew half way off on the freeway in a similar manor. If you can find a used one from somewhere it will be good to go. Just make sure you inspect it for flaw before putting it in.
