shocks/springs is always the best way to go when lowering, the ride you get with properly mated springs and shocks far supass the coilover route. The only advantage coilovers has over shocks/springs is adjustability, but you already said you aren't/don't want to do that so springs would be the way to go.

Don't get me wrong, when you start paying upwards of $1000 for full coilovers, you can get some that will rival your shock/spring setup WITH adjustability to boot! But if adjustability isn't a feature you want/need, go with springs and shocks.
