b. 300 wsm is easily one of the most popular cartridges available. any well stocked dealer should have it. plus i'd put money the ammunition is going to be cheaper than the 300 weatherby
c. just as a note, a mag is NOT necessary for an elk hunt. 308 i wouldnt want to use personally, but from first hand experience, a 270 with a properly matched load will down elk no problem. same said for 30-06 or 25-06. our last trip there was four of us and weapons used were as follows: 1. 270 custom loads, 1 300 wsm custom loads, 1 30-06 custom loads & i believe my uncle had his 25-06. we all dropped elk.
Thanks for the elk info. I would really prefer the 300 wsm but i was doubting a weatherby would be common in the caliber
