h: I'm joking of course. I don't really know your situation but have always assumed that your house is somewhat isolated and that you're probably home often because you are self employed and do freelance work. Is this true? If so, could a lack of frequent, meaningful human interaction be partially to blame?

I wholeheartedly agree. You've experienced a lot. Have you considered mentoring youth? Even other forms of volunteer work could give you a different sense of satisfaction that might help change your perspective of life right now.
I'm already assuming you're spending time with your kids when you have the chance. In any case, hope things look up.
