well its more on qualifications and performance. The standard pay at our work for ASE certified techs is like 25 an hour flat rate where as the Master Mechanic ASE techs make a bit more than that. In three years it shouldn't be hard to be in the 60-70k a year range depending on what dealership/shop you work for and how busy they are.
