Default 97 Ex cooling system questions

I am just starting to do do maintenance on my wife's car (just out of warranty, had been getting 15Ks done at dealer), and haven't gotten around to getting a FSM yet so have a couple basic questions.

I am trying to install a backflush coupler, but need to be 100% sure which hose to cut - which means I need to be sure where the water pump is (it does not appear to be where it has been on any other cars I have owned).

I don't see any hoses on the belt side of the engine, so I assume the water pump is the funky looking contraption just under the fuel rail near the engine/tranny mating surface. (looks like it would be a PITA to change, rather tight). If that is the case, it must be driven by a cam inside the block (like the fuel pump on my old sentra).

Also, where exactly is the coolant burp valve I saw mentioned in another thread - someone said it was near the upper hose on the block but I don't see it.

Thanks in advance.
