For real. I think that is so stupid... I didn't know that until about a year ago.

I agree... I've worked in restaurants and such before, but everyone deals with crappy people. Every job i've ever worked, it involved dealing with crappy people on a pretty regular basis. most of those jobs had no tips.

Finally I don't just blindly give 20% all the time, if I get good service I tip well, if not I don't tip well but I always tip. I've even praised waiter/waitress by calling over the manager/owner of the restaurant. In a job where you aren't appreciated very much at all and take the blame for the mistakes made in the kitchen, a little praise and a few dollar more in tip goes a long long way.
I agree. I don't blindly tip rates... everyone will get something, but if they did a stellar job, and I have the extra $, i'll tip well. If they did a crappy job, they are probably only getting 5% or so.
