well it's easy to take out the bottom portion of the CC. Easy in terms of me doing it a few times, but you'll have to take out the whole center console. The bottom CC panel is held on by two screws from the back, and you'll have to unplug the harness. There are two bulbs with gray bayonet mounts you stick a flathead in. I don't know how to find replacement bulbs, but as far as changing the colors if you need to, there is filter paper inside the three buttons. They can be pried off the front without even taking anything out. To find out how to remove the center console I used this

I dont think you can get away with not taking your console out because the access to the bulbs are in the back
You'll have to take out the three bottom panels and unscrew the metal bracket if your radio is installed that way. After that pull the whole thing out. I didn't know if you needed this but I had it linked anyway
if you did LEDs they wouldn't match the other CC controls or your dash. I go to the12volt.com forums to find LED info
