i guess what i'm getting at....& i see this all the time doing dsl instals on pcs that take FOREVER to startup....all the crap that doesn't need to run all the f'n time like:

quicktime
musicmatch jukebox
aol (not aim)
adobe updater
google toolbar update checker
itunes (huge resource hog)

etc....
