I'm in the same boat, buddy. my cars got 134k on the clock and after letting a friend take it for an autocross fun run i saw exactly how much she's puffing smoke. are there any simple ways to distinguish bad valve seals from rings on thier way out? I compression tested it about a year ago (maybe 6k miles) and everything was good across the board, so it makes me think that the rings should be fine, but the car has been through 4 track days and nearly a full season of autocross since then... so my abuse might have alot to do with it. I've also heard that these motors have the tendency to deposit shit in the cylinder walls which can sorta "fill the gaps" of bad rings and allow the cylinder to keep decent compression even with the ring seals damaged... any input?
