My first suggestion would be to wedge an enormous crowbar between the short c-channel arm and the section of frame that forms the base of the lock... and give it hell.
Since the lock rod itself is made from hardened steel, I'm not convinced that a pneumatic cutting wheel will work.
Not to pry, but was there any sign that the lock was dying?
I'm kinda nervous about being trapped in a similar situation.

Not prying at all. It never really felt like it was going. It went from working fine, to fail. I even tried using the other keys. I've had it for almost 3 years. I got it off of ebay (brand-new), and it seemed legit. I don't think I'll get one again from ebay, because my heart feels that the person selling it got some sort of "B" stock.
I'm not convinced that pneumatic will do the job either, but I'm going to give that a shot. The tow guy wants $100 and I don't feel like bending over right now.
