i can't count how much consolidation spam i've gotten over the years (not only from sallie mae). and they always labeled it as urgent or something you were required to act on..

over the years my rates continually dropped on their own, but like a year or two ago, i had to lock them in because they were about to go back up. so that's the only time i consolidated and that put the pay off by date out to like 2015 or something ridiculous. i just kept paying the same.
