yeah, 1/4 inch thick is way too thin...
My plate is prob at least 1" thick... If it's not this thick, it would be difficult to mount the plate to the manifold, then bolt the turbo to the plate...
Basically, to attach the plate to the turbo manifold you need to conter-sink 4 bolts in the plate... Then attach studs to the plate and bolt down the turbo on the studs...

But, if you don't have the turbine housing machined, I don't see how you are going to attach the 4th bolt, as the turbo normally bolts to the manifold...
