B16A aren't worth your time IMO. They make more noise than power and the DA9 is a bit too heavy to make it a realistic daily driver.

You're losing what little torque you get with the B18A1... and you still have the complexity of wiring for the ECU as you would with the B18C1.

In the short term, check out the valvetrain noise and while you're at it, compression and leakdown test it as well. Then decide wheter to rebuild or or replace the motor.
