According to your story there is dating of a friends ex going on, this is man code rule number two right behind not dating a friends sister (many consider it the same rule).

Once that is broke there is no friendship to be had really and if there is it is on very shaky ground.

Example:

A good friend (friend 1) I wheel with and his gf of 5 years broke up recently. His best friend (friend 2) and her started dating.

So friend 1 continues his friendship with friend 2 as though nothing happens. One day we are deep in the rocks and friend 2 jokingly calls friend 1 a pussy for not making a climb, we all laugh and move on....friend 1 comes out of his buggy swinging hard at friend 2 and we are left to break it up.

yeah shit gets twisted fast in this kind of situation.
