yes, that is what I am saying, but I was disagreeing with you also.
Cardio and lifting will do nothing for him without diet.
Cardio without lifting will do nothing but make his skin look like an 80-year old biker chick that doesnt know how to keep her shirt on.
I am saying that he needs to do all three in order to make the best of his effort.
