Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

Edit:I wasn't planning on providing the "Everthing you ever wanted to know about Honda automotive lock operation" but here it is...

Whether your honda has power or manual locks, you can't lock the driver's side door unless (1) you close the door, or (2) you pull the handle while you lock it.
This applies to both pushing it to the locked position manually or using the power switch. You can pull either the interior or exterior door handle, your choice.

Also, this may not apply to all but it does to 5th gen civics: If for some reason you are about to close your door and the doors are locked, if you push the switch to unlock them without first pulling the handle all doors will remain locked, not just the driver's door.
I figured this out through curiosity, not sure how you end up in that situation otherwise but that knowledge could prevent someone from being locked out.
