Do the BART trains have to deal with grade-level crossings for vehicle traffic? No. CalTrain is a better comparison IMO; they run at about 55mph.

A trip average of 180mph is doable if you've got a dedicated rail network
separated from all grade-level crossings. It's all a matter of money.
