I dont see the point in spending say 2500- 3000 on a tv that has the same features and options as your 1500 dollar t.v.
All your paying is for the name and to tell you the truth those big name companies are headaches when you need service on the TV.

At this point every manufactor and their mother are producing good quality LCD's. Also, the advancements in technology are being applied with these no name brand tv's and last just as long as the top of the shelf one, and you save some money.

Sony, & Samsung warranty sucks......from the experience my co-worker is going through.
well lets see. the sony xbr2+ models have a signal processor that upconverts the non HD signals to 1080P. That alone is worth about $750-1000 or more imo. So you take that Vizio 47" 1080p and compare to the sony 46" XBR2.

Check the contrast ratio on the two. Huge difference.

Vizio is $1700, XBR2. $3300.

Add $100 for the signal converter so bring the Vizio up to $2700.

Now what about the contrast ratio? That's worth probably at least $3-500 bucks.

It's all a matter of opinion and IMO if you have the money the Sony is a better buy. Sony has the features that other manufacturer do not have and it's worth the premium IMO.
