They can't force you to come in but not coming in to help can (but shouldn't, obviously) affect negatively on you.
I say do it if you have nothing better to do. Look at it as getting yourself some overtime and not helping the manager...

Hey, I've worked a 12 hour shift before. :wtc: The thing that really sucks is that my fiancee doesn't get home from work at the hospital until 8 o'clock tonight, which means zero time to spend together.
She works at the hotel part-time as well and dislikes our manager even more than I do. But she's also a really good employee. I'm sure she'd probably go in if they called her but she'd be just as irritated as I am.
