This happened to my antenna as well. The teeth on the inner push/pull cord get worn down near the top and it will start skipping teeth and 'jerking'. I took mine apart and modified it so it no longer goes into that region. It is super easy to get to, pull it out, open it up and see what you can do... save yourself bucks!
